Gujarat gets new medical college, 370 new seats

Medical Council of India (MCI) has allowed the Gujarat Government’s request for the new medical college in Palanpur town in Banaskantha district which will now dominate 370 new seats in the state. The state has now 4,200 medical seats from 24 medical colleges along with the new college in Palanpur. Hence Gujarat gets new medical college.

Currently, the medical college in Palanpur will have 150 seats. The admission for the same will start from the beginning of the new academic year in June 2018.

New Medical Seats added in different medical colleges

Apart from this, MCI has also agreed to the increase in the medical seats in various colleges. Seats have also been increased in Jamanagar Medical College from 200 to 250, Surat Medical College from 150 to 250 and in Vadodara Medical College from 180 to 250.

One of the Government Official said, MCI has inspected all of these medical colleges and contended with the services available in these colleges, hence they have decided to increase the seats.

Before new proposal, the state had 23 medical colleges which consist of total 3,830 seats.

Nitin Patel, the deputy chief minister of Gujarat said, “In 2005-06, the state had just 1,525 medical seats. The number has now increased to 4,200”. He further added, we have also sent a proposal to the MCI for granting seven new medical colleges for the state. If the proposal is accepted, the state will have more than 5,200 medical seats in the whole state.

Hence, this is a good news for all the B group students of Gujarat and other parts of the country. With new seats in medical colleges, more students will be able to apply for the MBBS Courses. Due to this, more students will get admission.

Hence, Gujarat gets new medical college, 370 new seats added.

Panjab University Alumni body gives away 67 scholarships, nominal association to toppers

Panjab University Alumni body gives away 67 scholarships, nominal association to toppers: On Tuesday, Irshad Kamil and noted Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj given away 67 scholarships to graduate and postgraduate toppers on the 15th edition of the scholarship award function ordered by Punjab University Alumni Association (PUAA).

Apart from this, 30 toppers were PU’s connected colleges. The toppers were awarded scholarships of Rs.10,000 each along with a certificate and trophy. They also gave an honorary lifetime membership of PUAA at the cost of Rs. 1,000 each from the alumni body’s own fund.

In addition, Sartaaj is the international ambassador of Panjab University Alumni body and Kamil has written the PU anthem. They have celebrated alumni of the university. Kamil said that this is a function of connectivity that gives the chance to meet everyone and I declare my thankfulness to the university.

Furthermore, Sartaaj said that Art and culture are a way to create a bond and harmony among individuals and tell themselves. He called PU his Mecca and encouraged youngsters to support and keep the cultural beliefs for generations to come.

Arun Kumar Grover is Vice-Chancellor. He said that The alumni connectivity with the old and the young is important to continue, check and create a border of knowledge.

PU receives Instagram account

Kamil and Sartaaj declared the official Instagram account of PU, @officialpu.india. Furthermore, Prof Grover said that PU got another move into increasing its online presence on the design of the “Digital India”.

In addition, Renuka B Salwan is the director, public relations. She said that the PU has existence on all the three major social networking platforms to communicate, update, interact. So, this is for remain connected with the students, teachers, alumni, and others.

Furthermore, she said that Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram will use as important media for the university. It uses to connect with the tech-smart generation.

IT Dept detects 1 lakh crore unreported high value transactions

The Income Tax (IT) Department has identified three lakh unreported transactions in the financial year 2017-18, some of the sources declared on Thursday. The Value of these transactions is more than Rs 1 lakh crore.

Directorate of Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department has detected all of these transactions. The Department has conducted more than 800 surveys on various co-operative banks, NBFCs, authorized dealer, foreign exchange dealers, sub-registrars, jewelers, and hospitals.

All of these institutions have to report, ‘ High-Value Transaction’ under section 285BA of the Income-tax Act, 1961 to the Directorate of Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department of Income Tax. The department has conducted a detailed survey on all of the institutions and they were amazed by the result of the survey.

As of the results, the total number of unreported transaction detected in the specified financial transaction verification survey is three lakh, which is three times higher when compared with the financial year 2017-18. Later, the value of unreported transactions has increased upto more than 5 times in a year, IT sources reported.

The report stated that the valued of the unreported transaction detected in FY 2017-18 is Rs 1.03 lakh crore when compared with the FY-2017-18 which was only Rs 16,240 crore.

As per the officer, about 100 to 10,000 cases of unreported transactions were being detected in the individual surveys. One of the senior of the Income Tax department told ANI on the condition of secrecy that all the entities have to compulsory report all the statements of the financial transaction.

“We have finished our survey and came to know that they were not reporting high value transactions. We had now taken action against them as per the section 277 and 277A of IT Act. We had also provided time to many of them to file revision in a reasonable time frame. Some of them who didn’t respond with supportive documents, we had also started prosecution for false statement and helping in tax evasion. Also, we have penalized many of them whose transaction was found suspicious and were unable to submit proof”, IT sources reported.

Hence, IT Dept detects 1 lakh crore unreported high-value transactions.

Govt declares monthly GST return filing

GST council meeting conducted on Friday has solved one of the major issues of new GST tax regime by eliminating current three stage-return filing process and moving to only one monthly return. Earlier, the demand of return forms increased at the last minute, hence the centre and the state decided to roll out a new mechanism in the six months in order to ensure suitable preparation for the transition. Hence, Govt declares monthly GST return filing.

Apart from Finance Minister, also to convert Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) into a fully government-owned company. Also, they will hire professionals at the market-linked salaries. However, the council discussion on the imposition of sugar cess and other digital payments.

As per the new structure, companies like HDFC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Strategic Investment Company and LIC Housing Finance will give up their 51% stake in the GST network. Hence 50% stake will hold by the centre and states each.

The IT’s main backbone GSTN will be provided 6 months to prepare and make adequate changes in the software in order to start new return filing format. Hence, all the taxpayers have to file GSTR 3B and GSTR1 form for the next six months.

In the current stage, the dealer will be continuously provided the information about the gap between the credit available to them according to the invoices uploaded by the sellers and provisional credit which is claimed by them.

In the final phase, which will take 1 year, provisional credit will be fully withdrawn and input tax credit will be only for the invoices which are uploaded by sellers from whom the dealers have purchased their goods.

The above entire process will take about a year, said finance and revenue secretary Hasmukh Adia.

According to the new system, most of the dealers will have to file only one return except for some composition dealers and assesses having no transactions as they have to file quarterly return.

New Ownership Structure of GSTN

The council decided to take the full 51% stake equity which is under non-government institutions in GSTN, which is equal to Rs 5.1 Cr and divided equally among centre and states.

Also, the government will hire the best people from the market in order to handle various GSTN tasks, Arun Jaitley said. GSTN will also be granted to continue to the current staff as per the current terms and conditions for the next five years. The current financial commitments which are provided by the centre and states to GSTN in order to share capital, operation and maintenance cost of IT systems will continue.

Presently, private institutions, HDFC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and LIC Housing Finance Ltd, hold 51% stake in the GSTN. However, centre holds 24.5 % stake, and rest is owned by states, union territories and empowered committee of state finance ministers.

We hope that the new GST filing system will be helpful for all the taxpayers and new structure of GSTN will be beneficial to the Government.

Coaching Classes to Pay 18% GST, students face pain

A coaching class which helps students to prepare for various engineering and medical exams is not exempted from the Good and Services Tax (GST). As per the rules are given by the Maharashtra Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR). Hence, Coaching Classes to Pay 18% GST.

Rajendra Shukla who is the owner of the Borivali-based Simple Shukla Tutorials searched for a decision in order to determine whether offering coaching to students of Classes of XI and XII to provide guidance for entrance exam such as medical and engineering would be subject to GST.

According to the command, it is neccessary on the taxpayer who has given the decision and government authorities, to provide important details in order to avoid the future issue. Later, Shukla in his application stated that the government notification (Notification 12, dated June 28, 2017) said that the services offered by the educational institution to the students would be taxed at “nil” rate. He further said that the terms “Education” and “Institution” had not been given under the GST Act.

In general, it simply means that any organization who provides educational services. Hence, his coaching class is exempted from GST.
But, AAR committee noted that this notification namely defined which educational institutions which will be exempted from GST. The list covered all the schools which provide primary and higher secondary education and also institutions which provide vocational educational courses.

The list of exemption notification also covered educational institutions whose curriculum resulted in students obtaining a qualification offered by law. The AAR bench pointed out the coaching class doesn’t follow any specific curriculum and did not conduct any examination or award any qualification recognized by law.

“The activity of the applicant is not covered by the specific definition provided for interpretation of the exemption notification” finished by AAR.

As per the tax experts, all the coaching classes whose turnover is above have to register under GST and have to add 18% to their fees. In simple words. GST will have to be paid by students. Later, Vinay Kumar, MD, Rao IIT Academy said that the 18% GST is not only painful for students but also for them.

He further said, “GST was applicable from July last year and it increased the total fees to some extent”. Narendra Bhambhani working in the Maharashtra Class Owners Association said a parent whose child is studying for coaching class for just a period of 5 years from the staring of school has to pay Rs 1 lakh even if the fees change adequately.

Hence, coaching classes to pay 18% GST, due to which students will face pain.

IISc rises up to 13th place among institutions in emerging economies: On Wednesday, Times Higher Education (THE) Engineering Economics ranking 2018 said that IISc rises up to 13th place among institutions in emerging economies involves 42 of India’s institutes, with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru rising up to the 13th place. The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, is at 26th place.

India continues to try hard to make a mark in global higher education ranking. But the recent ranking of institutes in 42 rising economics suggests that it has importantly raised its profile among 350 universities. It holding the second position after China.

As per the record, the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is India’s highest riser hopping 57 positions. To number joint 138th due to growth in research influence and references.

Furthermore, Tezpur University benefits 41 places to break into the top 100, sharing the 99th with Russia’s National University of Science and Technology. The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay preserves its place at 26 ranks.

Yet, THE said that while some Indian Institutes created big benefits and their general representation improved. Then, the most of the earlier ranked institutes have discarded places. And both the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi fall from the top 50.

Furthermore, Phil Baty is the editorial director of global rankings for THE. He said that India certainly has the potential to arise as a famous player in global higher education in the next years. This is an important moment. He also said that stable investment, a rigid drive to attract main global ability. In addition, he said that the Narendra Modi government’s study in India plans to raise international student number is very hopeful and said that he saw more ability in the new Institutes of excellence leadership.

As per the report, China’s leadership of the ranking stay unchallenged. It has 63 institutes acted and 52 of its institutions make the table’s top 200 more than any other country. Pakistan has 10 institutes denoted up from seven with Quaid-i-Azam University ranked at joint 85th. So, its good that IISc rises up to 13th place among institutions in emerging economies.
